captain Trent Barrett has been ruled out of
the Tri-Nations after failing a medical at
today’s Philips Kangaroos training run.
“I’m
really disappointed but I sort of knew in
the back of my mind that I wouldn’t be
right,” Barrett said.
“I
watched the Kangaroos play some unforgettable
games last year and I was really keen to be
part of this year’s trip so this is a
real blow for me.”
He
will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee
tomorrow and his shoulder in two weeks.
Barrett
said he was hopeful the surgery would be purely
for maintenance, with a "clean up"
of some niggly injuries. He expects to be
fit to start pre-season training on November
8.
