Dragons
'unlikely' to sign Phil Bailey

The chances of St George Illawarra signing Phil
Bailey have narrowed following news that the back
rower is likely to remain with the Sharks in 2004.
Speculation
has suggested that Bailey may exercise a get-out
clause in his contract following the sacking of
coach Chris Anderson by the Sharks board last Monday
and that the Kangaroo and NSW rep was rumoured to
interested in joining Saints.
Cronulla
general manager Steve Rogers had earlier stated
that there was no guarantee Bailey would remain
a Shark. This prompted speculation that Manly, Canterbury,
Roosters and St George were all interested in talking
to Bailey. The rumour gained further mometum when
Dragons CEO Peter Doust said, "If he was to
be on the market, I'd be keen to talk to him."
The
rumour however appears to have taken a nose dive,
with Bailey now saying he was likely to remain at
Cronulla for 2004.
