St George Illawarra's horror run of injuries continue with second rower Lance Thompson likely to miss the rest of the season following a chest muscle injury.

The Dragons captain has reportedly been ruled out of Sunday's do-or-die clash with Newcastle at Kogarah Jubilee.

This weekend 's match represents a slim semi-finals chance for the Dragons who must win and hope that teams above them on the NRL ladder continue to lose for the remaining two rounds.

Earlier in the week, internationals Mark Gasnier and Henry Perenara were ruled out for the season while Jason Ryles, Trent Barrett and Amos Roberts are also sidelined.
