Work
Commences On Jubilee Oval
Report
from: R2K
29/01/03
The
Development Application for refurbishment works
at Jubilee Oval has been approved by Kogarah Council.
The
necessary demolition works commenced this week and
are being carried out by a contractor - Rainbow
Environmental Services. Maintenance work on upgrading
the existing toilet facilities has also commenced.
An analysis of tenders for the construction work
is being finalised and it is expected that a contract
will be drawn up with the successful applicant by
the 31st of January.
The
Jubilee Oval Community Appeal is expected to gain
additional momentum when the pre-season commences.
Some major events are being planned including promotional
soccer and rugby league games, a fundraising dinner
and a family day in late April. R2K will release
for sale its 2003 T-Shirt, with all profits being
donated to the Jubilee Oval Community Appeal.
An
added bonus for Jubilee Oval is the announcement
of a 6 million-dollar upgrade to Carlton Station
by the State Government. The upgrade will include
lifts that provide access to the pedestrian bridge
from Railway and Carlton Parade, and to each of
the island platforms. The station is currently in
poor condition and the upgrade is long overdue.
