Can St George-Illawarra
win the first division title for the second consecutive
year, or will the Bulldogs give their hardy fans
something to smile about this Sunday afternoon?
After 22 rounds of the regular competition and three
weeks of tough finals matches, the sides that finished
1 and 2 on the competition table are left standing
and will do battle in what promises to be an action
packed match.
Jonathon Thurston
was a welcome inclusion to the Bulldogs side last
weekend after receiving a medical clearance to return
from a broken cheekbone. While Thurston was not
at peak fitness and struggled at various stages
during the game, his class was clearly evident and
his presence lifted the players around him. He'll
be better for the run this weekend and while he
won't be the deciding factor, if the Dragons aren't
able to shut him down then he will go a long way
to securing victory for the Bulldogs.
The Dragons strength
is in their size both in the starting line up and
off the interchange bench, with the likes of Luke
Felsch, Gary McBride and Peter Ellis just some of
the big men who can really make an impact against
a tiring opposition.
