Five St George Illawarra
players have been included in the Kangaroos train
on squad for the upcoming one off Test match against
New Zealand on October 12.
Trent Barrett, Luke
Bailey, Mark Gasnier, Mark Riddell and Jason Ryles
have all gained selection following last weekend's
matches. Barrett, Gasnier and Ryles have all had
previous Australian and NSW representative experience
while Bailey has represented NSW in this years State
of Origin. But for Riddell, this is his first representative
call.
Being named in the
squad is recognition of being under consideration
for the Test Match and is made up of players from
teams who are no longer in premiership contention.
Also freed up for
the train on squad were Newcastle players Danny
Buderus, Steve Simpson, Ben Kennedy, Timana Tahu
and Matt Gidley.
Meanwhile, Six Dragons
from the side knocked out of the Premiership last
weekend are heading elsewhere next season.
Halfback Willie Peters,
centre Lee Hookey and secondrower Justin Smith are
all heading to South Sydney while lock Jason Hooper
is off to join St Helens in the English Super League.
Utility back Jason Kent is linking with the Sharks.
Hooker Shane Millard
is still uncertain about where he will be in 2003
with salary cap restrictions likely to force him
away from St George Illawarra.
