In the aftermath of the first gruelling
week of the semi finals, St George Illawarra fans have plenty of reasons
to smile.
After coming away from Energy Australia
Stadium with a victory over the Knights for the second time in as many
weeks, the Dragons trio of Luke Bailey, Jason Hooper and Mark Riddell have
all escaped suspension and have no to case answer before the judiciary.
Bailey was placed on report for accidentally
dropping the knees into the back of Dally M player of the year, Andrew
Johns. The Knights captain had his season prematurely ended with confirmation
of three broken bones in his lower back.
Meanwhile, Riddell escaped suspension
on a lifting charge and will be free to take his place in the Dragons side
to face their arch rivals, the Sharks at Aussie Stadium on Saturday night.
Hooper was cited for an off the ball
incident but the matter will not be pursued.
Matthew Gidley has also been cleared
of a dangerous tackle claim in the same match. Gidley will be a key player
if the Knights are to salvage anything from the season after Johns injury.
