The Sydney Roosters
have sent notice to other premiership contenders after
an emphatic victory over the St George Illawarra Dragons
by 26-10 at Aussie Stadium (SFS) today.
After a tight first
20 minutes, the Roosters laid on 18 points to hold
a commanding 20-0 lead at half time.
With the score at just
14-0 and with Saints attacking, Roosters' flyer Anthony
Minichiello picked a loose ball to run 100m to score
the game breaker on the stroke of half time.
Saints won the second
half scoring 10 points to six but it was never going
to be enough.
Dragons' winger Lee
Hookey finally scored for the visitors in the 60th
minute. But by then the Dragons seemed bereft of ideas
as their second man plays were being consistently
picked off by an exceptional Roosters' defence.
Craig Fitzgibbons, backing
up all day and kicking five goals from five attempts
was stand out for the home side.
Shaun Timmins was easily
the best player for the Dragons.
With today's win and
coming off a 44-0 victory over the Warriors, the Roosters
look to be timing a near perfect run to the semi-finals.
