It has been revealed
this morning that former St George Illawarra Dragons
winger, Nathan Blacklock, has had discussions with
a club in the NRL about returning to the NRL next
season. The club is not St George Illawarra but
is rumoured to be a Sydney club.
Blacklock has had
an unhappy stint in Rugby Union this year, playing
first grade for Southern Districts. Blacklock's
form in union has him at long odds to make the Waratahs
side for next years Super 12 season and the signing
of Broncos winger, Lote Tuqiri, would make Blacklocks
chances that much harder of cracking a spot in the
first XV for the Waratahs.
There has been speculation
about which club Blacklock will play for and last
week he was reportedly close to signing with the
South Sydney Rabbitohs. The strong word is that
he still considering offers from the Penrith Panthers
or the Rabbitohs.
The failure of Blacklock
in Union will be a bitter pill for John O'Neill,
having already lost Sam Harris to Manly and Tuqiri
almost certain to return to League once his two
year contract is up. It shows you need more than
just money to make a sport successful.
