Rugby League News:
R2K's big night
Article by: R2K  http://www.r2k.info/

R2K (Return to Kogarah) hosted the Immortals dinner on Friday night at the Novotel Brighton. Attendees experienced a very enjoyable dinner and auction with Reg Gasnier, Graeme Langlands and Johnny Raper.

R2K was very honoured to have the Immortals in attendance. They threw their full support behind the Dragons returning to Jubilee Oval.

The Master of Ceremonies was Andy Paschilidis, while Mark Coyne was a special guest speaker.

Other special guests included Jim Taylor (Kogarah Mayor), Cherie Burton (State Member for Kogarah), Shaoquett Moselmane (Rockdale Mayor), Vince Badalati (Hurstville Mayor), Malcolm Kerr (State Member for Cronulla) and Dick Caine.

R2K's Lachlan McLean congratulated Kogarah Council on their unanimous support and encouraged Kogarah Council to establish a Trust fund for the maintenance and improvement of Jubilee Oval.

McLean stated, "We advocate that this Fund be established and held in trust by Kogarah Council. This would provide a good opportunity for supporters to contribute to a future for the Dragons at Kogarah and for the St.George Leagues Club to match every dollar contributed by supporters."

McLean also congratulated Robert Stone for working closely with Kogarah Council and the NRL :

"Robert has always maintained a consistent approach on the Dragons returning to Kogarah and it would be a good thing if more Rugby League administrators possessed the qualities of Robert."

R2K would like to thank Anthony Mundine for the 10 ringside tickets he donated to R2K for the auction. Choc is a true St.George man and R2K recognises this as a marvellous gesture. The Immortals should also be applauded for their donation to R2K.

R2K will now look to assist Kogarah Council with the fundraising activities that Jim Taylor mentioned in his speech. These activities will assist with the ongoing campaign to have St. George Illawarra returned to Kogarah Jubilee Oval for 50% of their home games.
