Brothers Valleys are playing the St George Illawarra Dragons in a trial match on February 9th at Perry Park, Brisbane. Its Brothers Valleys first match as a joint venture and Saints' first match of 2002. Brothers Valleys are an affiliate of the Dragons.

A few new names in the Dragons will be getting their first run and will have the opportunity to impress coach Andrew Farrar.

According to the organisers, the entertainment is really being laid on:
- Meet the Kangaroos players: Trent Barrett, Nathan Blacklock, Mark Gasnier,
  Jason Ryles and Shaun Timmins.
- A parade of 'greats' from Brothers and the Diehards of past years.
- Fireworks
- Kids attractions

One of the things I like about the promotion is the insistence from the new joint venture that they have a combined heritage of 167 years...Brothers were established in 1917 and Valleys in 1909...there being no suggestion that history has been re-started simply because they joined forces.

This should be a great match and a great night out.
